ORGAN
Spent numerous hours evaluating the problems with the organ and generating
a list of new and ongoing issues. These were presented in writing to Dykman
Pipe Organ services in October for evaluation and requests for bids to repair
the problems as well as explanations for why the problems are occurring and why
Dykman no longer seems to fix certain issues. To date, no response to my request
has been received from Dykman Pipe Organ although he did provide a partial tuning in
October – November.
Via Pastor Trexler, contacted David Hamblin for his evaluation of the Organ -
his assessment is in agreement with mine that some substantial work needs to be done
to keep the instrument in working order.
Via David Hamblin, contacted Reynolds Pipe Organ service for an evaluation of the organ.
Their assessment is in agreement with mine that substantial work needs to be done to keep
the organ in playable condition.
Pastor Trexler contacted Dykman Pipe Organ and had Carl Dykman complete some repairs
The organ is in somewhat playable condition. How long, remains to be seen.
There will come a time when the organ will no longer be useable and its deterioration
is a constant factor in its need for a complete restoration.
FUTURE GOALS
Continue creating service music list cross-referenced with scripture and hymns
Continue to pursue the most appropriate action for the music program at Gloria Dei
which includes how to proceed with the Organ and its use in worship.
SPECIAL NOTE
I am always and eternally thankful to the family of Gloria Dei.
Your generosity, support, and kindness are always appreciated.
I am so often reminded here at Gloria Dei that wherever a few are gathered
there HE is also, and just a few pennies can add up to a mountain of
generous giving, and just a few make a mighty noise and can be of great resolve.
We here at Gloria Dei are worship-filled, generous to a fault, and just noisy
enough to be heard in this community. My hope is that we continue to grow in
faith and be an ever-present lamppost in Highland.
Respectfully submitted,
Dave Markley
Minister of Music
